Being discharged today? We arrange wheelchair- and gurney-capable rides home from John Muir, Kaiser, and East Bay hospitals and rehab centers — coordinated directly with the nursing staff.
Even a rough window helps — “sometime this afternoon” is enough to get a vehicle assigned.
We confirm the entrance, the room, and the mobility need with you or the discharge nurse, so nobody waits in a lobby.
The driver helps through the door — not just to the curb — and makes sure your family member is safely inside.
Anyone can say they’re safe and reliable. Every Medical Rides trip goes to a provider that has cleared the NEMA Network’s credentialing standard — the same bar hospitals and skilled nursing facilities rely on when they book transport for their own patients. It’s vetting you couldn’t practically do yourself, finished before a provider can take a single ride.
Each provider’s commercial coverage is documented, checked against requirements, and watched so it can’t quietly lapse before your ride.
Business licensing, driver credentials, and vehicle inspection records are reviewed and kept on file — not taken on someone’s word.
No provider is auto-approved. A NEMA reviewer signs off before they can accept a single ride on the network.
Reliability is scored ride after ride. Providers who slip are restricted or removed — so the bar holds after approval, not just at sign-up.
Yes — that’s normal. Give us the window, and we’ll stay in touch with you (or the nurses’ station) and dispatch when the paperwork is done.
Tell us when you book — gurney (stretcher) transport is available for riders who need to stay reclined.
Discharge rides are private pay, but many families get money back — some Medicare Advantage plans reimburse members, and we give you an itemized receipt. Original Medicare doesn’t cover non-emergency transport.
